COSS OLP/CRP (Overhead/Conductor Rail Line Permit) Course What is it for: Any group of staff going to walk or work “On or Near the Line” must have a COSS (Controller Of Site Safety) appointed to look after their safety, by them establishing, monitoring and amending as necessary a safe system of work for the duration of their time on Network Rail’s Infrastructure. Where the work takes place that would requie the isolation of either Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) or the Conductor Rail (3rd & 4th Rail), then the COSS must be suitably competent to deal with receiving isolation permits.. Who should attend: Any COSS wishing as part of their duties to be able to take possession of isolation permits for either Overhead Lines and/or Conductor Rails This course is usually added on to the end of a COSS Initial (4 days) course to make it 5 days or a COSS Recert (2 days) to make it 3 days. However, it can be run as an indendant module. Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of the course, the candidates will be be able to interpret correctly the relevant parts of the Rule Book, the Railway Group Standards and will understand the relevant aspects of the Sentinel Scheme procedures appertaining to COSS being issued with Overhead Line Permits and Conductor Rail Permits. They will be able to demonstrate their understanding and ability to complete the relevant permits for the areas they may be working in. What does it contain: The course content is as follows;
How is it taught: Tutor led sessions, along with group discussions, brainstorming exercises, with practical assessment to practice the skills delegates have just learnt. Theory assessments are included at the end of the course to determine satisfactory competence in both OLP and CRP modules. Features: Delegates should bring a Handbooks, COSS Key Point Card and current Rule Book, when attending the course. Requirements:
