Lookout Pee Wee Course

What is it for:

Any COSS looking after the safety of a group may need to appoint one or more Lookouts to provide protection either as Lookouts when Open Line working or Site Wardens when working adjacent to Open Lines dependant on site conditions and circumstances. This course provides the trainee with the knowledge to be able to act accordingly to the COSS's instructions to maintain group safety.

The certification has a validity of 2 years only, following which, the candidate must undergo a recert course in order to maintain their competency.

Who should attend:

Any person who wishes to remain Lookout certificated and their existing certification is due to expire soon or has just expired (within 8 weeks of expiry).

Only persons who have a valid Sponsor will be eligible to attend.

Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion of the course, the candidates will be refreshed enough to continue carrying out the duties of Lookout/Site Warden in accordance with the Rule Book and other relevant railway Group Standards.

What does it contain:

The course content is as follows;

  • Introduction and the need for recertification
  • Course workbook for Lookout/Site Warden
  • Relevant video and discussion
  • Course workbook review and additional training
  • Final revision
  • Theory assessment
  • Practical/Verbal assessment

How is it taught:

Tutor led sessions, using appropriate visual aids incorporating a some practical demonstrations.

Theory and practical assessments are included at the end of the course to determine satisfactory competence.

Features:

Delegates will be provided with a Lookout Key Point Card if required when attending the course.

  • Confirmation of Sponsorship to attend course
  • Valid Sentinel Card
  • Please note that normal colour vision is no longer a requirement
